Senior Supervisor

Dorman Products is seeking a Sr. Supervisor with strong people management skills and Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen experience. The individual selected for this role will be responsible for overseeing distribution activities including material handling, picking, packing and shipping of raw materials and/or finished goods and maintaining inventory and associated records. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.


Primary Duties:

  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Maintains work flow utilizing LEAN manufacturing methodologies - Leading Kaizens, and training other personnel to lead Kaizens.  Monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments - all to be acheived through the utilization of Kaizens.  

  • Completes a plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Provides information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.


    Key Accountabilities:

  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices through Kaizen, and PFEMA - including record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects or Lean events that support annual goals for productivity, service, cost control and work environment improvements.

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of a particular department.  

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel.  Must be capable of utilizing data to solve problems.

  • Must have experience and/or knowledge/education in LEAN manufacturing - must be able to lead Kaizens on day one

  • Previous supervisory skills and experience desired.

  • Able to lead projects and execute desired results


    Physical Requirements:  


    Capability to lift 40 pounds.


    Working Conditions:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.  Noise level is usually moderate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
