Principal DevOps Engineer

Position Overview As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to a growing team charged with supporting a large, multinational software development effort. You will use your expertise to provision environments, package our software for on-premises deployments, set up deployment pipelines, and monitor our IaaS, PaaS, & SaaS software solutions. You will work with performance test teams to set up complex performance environments in Microsoft Azure, and assist with monitoring and post-test analysis & troubleshooting. You will collaborate with Architects and stakeholders to identify ways to reduce our Azure spend, while maximizing system performance. You may also be called upon to participate in troubleshooting efforts to resolve deployment or production issues that arise in the field. You will interact daily with teammates located in multiple locations within the US, Europe, and India, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Duties and Responsibilities Champion best practices and hold the team to a high standard Stay abreast of the latest technology and industry trends, identifying candidates that can benefit Aclara. Monitor Azure utilization, identify trends, and recommend cost saving opportunities Create and deploy Azure based Development, Test, and UAT VMs Configure Azure Service Fabric performance monitors and analyze results (Application Insights, Diagnostic Agent, Azure monitor Logs) Work with System Architects to define optimal VM sizing for both performance and cost Create dashboards to summarize system-wide performance spanning multiple VMs and SaaS components. Create and maintain deployment pipelines for Development, Test, and Performance environments Help design, implement, and maintain continuous integration solutions. Create and manage Azure based VMs for development, test, UAT, and Production environments Provide full application development support across all environments Act as a liaison between application development and infrastructure/support teams. Troubleshoot and resolve issues, both internal and in the field Deliver streamlined deployment solutions for on-premise product installations Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience as an Operations Engineer (or similar) working on application infrastructure related activities. Minimum of 5 years of build/release management experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in one of these technologies:
Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins or similar. Minimum of 5 years of experience with Ruby, Python or similar. Proven experience in working on Azure environments and its offerings (PaaS, SaaS or IaaS), PowerShell, Load balancing, Firewall and DNS. Strong knowledge of security best practices. Prior experience with tools such as VSTS or Jenkins and setting up CI/CD pipelines. Strong understanding of Internet protocols including HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP. Knowledge of LAN WAN Network, VPN and IPSEC. Preferred:
Expert or Architect level certification in Azure, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure technologies. Prior experience in using cloud APIs to automate provisioning, deployment, improving system performance and stability. Knowledge of Cloud APIs and Cloud technologies with some .NET & C# programming experience. Prior experience with Cassandra, Databricks, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, Azure Service Fabric Use of Cloud APIs to automate provisioning and deployments. Some fluency in Spanish
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
DevOps & Site ReliabilityEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
